The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FDCPA), is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, and gives you specific rights when dealing with CRA's. It protects you by requiring credit bureaus to furnish accurate and complete information to businesses when they evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, or a job.

The FDCPA outlines what bill collectors and lawyers can and cannot do when attempting to collect debts. The FDCPA was written to protect consumers from collection abuse by clearly defining the rules that debt collection agencies and bill collectors must follow when attempting to collect any type of debt.
